Further to our Honeybourne Jewellery 221B door pendant post in January, the designer, Sophie Honeybourne, tells us she was, “hit by a tidal wave of Sherlock fans” interested in where they can get their very own miniature Sherlock door.
Sophie has been hard at work designing cast versions of the hand made doors we featured, and was delighted to see Sherlock series producer Sue Vertue wearing her piece at various Sherlock events recently.
After creating the new, un-finished, un-oxidsied piece in solid silver ready to be cast, Honeybourne Jewellery promises, “not long now” as they were sent to the casters last week. These cast versions will still include Sophie’s meticulous attention to detail and exceptional quality, but be considerably easier on the wallet than the original one offs.
We’ll keep you up to date as to when they will be available to order on Sherlockabilia.com, and also be sure to keep an eye on the Honeybourne Jewellery Facebook page for the latest news on them, not to mention even more exciting Sherlock inspired pieces Sophie has in the pipeline.
After a journey of five years, Cabin Pressure is now ready to make its final departure, following the recording of the last ever episode on Sunday February 23 2014 at RADA Studios in London. The beloved BBC Radio 4 comedy written by John Finnemore stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Roger Allam, Stephanie Cole and Finnemore, alongside a host of guest stars, many of who recur in the final episode.
In this final installment, we pick up immediately after we left the crew of MJN Air at a critical moment that would decide the future of both the one-aircraft airline and its Captain, Martin Crieff (Cumberbatch). What occurs thereafter will of course not be described here, but over the extended 45 minute runtime of this episode Finnemore spins a comedy writing masterclass that not only pushes the entire cast of characters forward but fondly looks back to the past, pulling some interesting threads from the entire lifetime of the series together into a hugely satisfying whole.
And sitting there in the audience at RADA studios, you once again got the sense of the huge fondness the cast and crew hold each other in. The camaraderie between all those performing never wavered, whether they were regulars, returning guests, or a new arrival. As a result there were, of course, a couple of moments of sputtering laughter from those at the microphone necessitating an immediate retake, but these are all part of the fun of seeing recording take place ahead of any editing into the final product.
But of course, the recording itself was infused with a palpable sense of the bittersweet, and by the conclusion of the retakes at the end of the evening you could sense a small tinge of incredulity among some on stage that this was the final time they would play these characters. All told though, Cabin Pressure ends brilliantly, on its own terms and in perfect style with a hilarious, warm and fitting finale that this well loved series deserves in every possible way.
No broadcast date for the final episode of Cabin Pressure has been announced by BBC Radio 4 as yet, but a potential date of December 24 2014 was mooted at the recording. Stay tuned to our social media accounts for further updates.

Unboxing the Sherlock Series 1-3 Limited Edition Collector’s Boxset
Thanks to the kind people at BBC Worldwide, we’ve got our hands on the UK exclusive Limited Edition Collector’s Boxset of Sherlock Series 1-3, and thought we’d give you an in-the-flesh look at the unboxing of it.
The premium finished edition of the complete Sherlock - thus far - comes with a few collectibles inside the magnetically clasp sealed and numbered box that are worth noting. The upper section of the boxset contains the three series of the show, packaged in slim DVD cases, and removing these reveals a pocket sized plain paper notebook with stylish interior page art.
A drawer underneath the discs and notebook contains a well bound facsimile of the shooting script for Sherlock S1E1 A Study in Pink, with reproduction signatures of Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman, Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss. The script is half the size of the genuine article at A5 size. Rounding out the package is a double sided letter from Mrs Hudson, notable as it apparently divulges the first name of our favourite land lady…
The Blu Ray version of the boxset shown here is seemingly no longer available from the BBC Shop, but the DVD edition still is - we suggest hurrying if you still want to try and get your hands on a copy of this extremely well presented premium release of our favourite show.
Sherlock Series Three is over, and Series Four is waiting in the future. But in the meantime, to tide us all over in the hiatus, something exciting is coming later this year.
SHERLOCKED, the first ever official Sherlock convention dedicated to our favourite BBC series, will take place in 2014 over 3 days. The event will be run by Massive Events in association with Hartswood Films and Showmasters Ltd - a combination of the talents of specialist producers in dedicated fan conventions and the hugely experienced team behind the renowned London Film & Comic Con, and the Sherlock production team. In addition, it is intended to take place in Europe and in the USA.
With this level of behind the scenes experience, SHERLOCKED already looks to be an unprecedented event for fans of the series to attend. The convention has been in the planning since the middle of 2013 ahead of this announcement, and will feature activities, star guests from the cast and crew, talks, photo shoots, autograph sessions and plenty more!
Sherlock’s producer Sue Vertue exclusively told us: "We’re very excited to be announcing our first official Sherlock convention for later in the year, aptly named SHERLOCKED. Massive Events have been pestering me for ages to get a date for this in the schedule but we wanted to make sure that we had the time and energy to make it a great, high quality and fun event, and now we have! Watch this space."
Full details on SHERLOCKED will be revealed in the near future, including dates, locations and venues, and of course the cast and crew that will be attending the convention.
To be among the first to know all that information when it is revealed, head to Massive Events website right now and register your details. You can also follow the Facebook and Twitter accounts for the event, and Sherlockology will be bringing you all the news on this exciting event as it is announced.
About Ready to be #Sherlocked?
Sherlockology has known about the work to get an official convention off the ground for a long time. We first spoke with Massive Events back in 2012 when many fans were asking us to organise a convention for Sherlock, following the release of Series Two. We are not event organisers and prefer to leave that sort of thing to the people who are experts in the field - we felt that if a Sherlock convention was to go ahead, it had to be the best it could be. The one thing we were absolutely certain about was that it had to be official, with the makers of the series involved, so we introduced Massive Events to Hartswood Films and since the middle of 2013 both companies have been working their magic together to bring SHERLOCKED into existence.
We were excited to spend the past week running a teaser campaign across our social media platforms leading to this long awaited announcement. In keeping with the name of the convention, the teasers took inspiration from the famous unlock screen of Irene Adler’s phone in S2E1 A Scandal in Belgravia, with quotes taken from that episode featuring blocked out letters in the style of her password. When each pair of these letters was rearranged come the final day of the teaser campaign, it spelt out CONVENTION. Some extremely clever people worked it out two days ago on Wednesday - if that was you, a truly hearty round of applause.
