Sherlock returns for one-off special AND Series 4

image

Sherlock, the hit BBC One drama produced by Hartswood Films, will return to screens for a Special, followed by a series of three new episodes.

The last series saw Sherlock’s life change a lot – he returned from the dead, his best friend John Watson married Mary Morstan and he met his match in Charles Augustus Magnussen. After the briefest of exiles, Sherlock came back only to face one of his biggest mysteries yet. Why is Moriarty’s face being broadcast on every television in the land?

Speaking about the return of the series, co-creator, writer and executive producer Steven Moffat said: “A special, plus a new series of three episodes - it’s a record-breaking run!!  Of course, it’s far too early to say what’s coming, but we’re reasonably confident that the very next thing to happen to Sherlock and John, is the very last thing you’d expect ….”

Co-creator, writer and executive producer Mark Gatiss adds: “Series Four! At last ! It’s always special to return to ‘Sherlock’ but this time it’s even more special as we’re doing…a Special! Not only THAT, we’ll then be shooting three more episodes which will take Sherlock and John Watson into deeper and darker water than ever before…The whole ‘Sherlock’ team are terrifically excited to return for four new adventures. The Game is on - again!”

Sue Vertue, Executive Producer, Hartswood Films says: “It’s taken a little while to get the dates sorted as none of the boys are exactly sitting back twiddling their thumbs but there was unanimous goodwill to make this work so we’re thrilled  that 221b is going to be inhabited again.”

Charlotte Moore, Controller of BBC One says: “It’s a very good day in the life of a BBC One Controller when you can announce Sherlock will return for a special plus a new three part series . Massive thanks to Sue Vertue and Hartswood Films for pulling this off, it’s no mean feat pinning down some of this country’s most brilliant and in demand actors and writers.”

Ben Stephenson, Controller BBC Drama says: “Steven and Mark are ready to unleash the most shocking and surprising series of Sherlock yet. The only thing to expect is the unexpected…”

Sherlock is written and created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, and inspired by the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Sherlock is produced by Sue Vertue and the executive producers are Beryl Vertue, Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat for Hartswood Films, Bethan Jones for BBC Cymru Wales and Rebecca Eaton for Masterpiece.  Shooting on the special will begin in January 2015, with the series shooting later next year.

Commissioned by Charlotte Moore, Controller of BBC One and Ben Stephenson Controller, BBC Drama Commissioning.

Fargo - Review

image

This review contains some spoilers for the complete ten episode mini-series.

Minnesota Nice meets jet black comedy, with a liberal dose of bloody violence.

That was the greatest tonal takeaway from Fargo, the Coen Brothers Oscar winning 1996 film. The movie lasted for a scant 94 minutes, leaving a few threads deliberately hanging to suggest the pointlessness of the spiralling criminal endeavour we had seen unfold, but ultimately keeping its narrative compact and indeed complete by the close. There was no real reason to suggest this story had anywhere else to go, so the announcement of a ten episode limited mini-series based upon the world of the film was one of the more intriguing announcements by FX Networks in late 2013. The addition of Martin Freeman in a leading role in an American cable television series naturally secured our eager attention come broadcast in mid-April 2014.

redeemed-from-the-earth:

Hi everyone - the big day has arrived! We’re reposting our original message just to get it into the tag for today.

Today at 10pm UK time, we’re all going to start talking about #SaveInTheFlesh

More and more people are discovering this wonderful show every day. None of us want to lose it.

Unfortunately, another series is still not guaranteed. We all need to let the BBC know we’re behind the show, so TONIGHT at 10pm UK time, we’re all going to start talking about #saveintheflesh

This is how you help:

tumblr

  • We all create a post - this isn’t about likes and reblogs, this is a show of numbers. It could be a bit of fan art you’ve made, your favourite quote, a picture of your favourite character, or even just one of the images above
  • Here are screencaps for images and here are the scripts for quotes
  • In the caption, say how much you like the show and that you want another series
  • Mention BBC Three’s tumblr account in the caption so they get a notification when you publish. To do this, simply include “@ bbcthree” without the space. This is important - we want them to see
  • Tag it saveintheflesh
  • Schedule it for 10pm UK time on Sunday night

facebook

  • Go and write on BBC Three’s facebook page that you want a new series

twitter

  • tweet #saveintheflesh at BBC Three
  • after creating your own tweet, retweet a few others from the tag a few minutes later
  • Get conversations going with your fellow fans - tweet questions and answer other people’s using the hashtag. This will help get the numbers up and ensure the topic stays busy.

Timing is everything here people! If we all work together at the same time, we can send a strong, united message of support for the show to the BBC. If we’re lucky, we might even trend.

Remember: TODAY (Sunday 22nd June) 10pm UK time

Support so far has been amazing- just look at the notes on the original post, we just need to follow through on this!

Thanks so much to everyone in the fandom who has got behind this, and to all our fandom friends who are helping out because they don’t want to see another great show disappear.

See you tonight!

Good luck all you Rotters! Team Sherlockology will be joining The Rising tonight at 10pm BST, so see you there.
