Unboxing the Sherlock Series 1-3 Limited Edition Collector’s Boxset
Thanks to the kind people at BBC Worldwide, we’ve got our hands on the UK exclusive Limited Edition Collector’s Boxset of Sherlock Series 1-3, and thought we’d give you an in-the-flesh look at the unboxing of it.
The premium finished edition of the complete Sherlock - thus far - comes with a few collectibles inside the magnetically clasp sealed and numbered box that are worth noting. The upper section of the boxset contains the three series of the show, packaged in slim DVD cases, and removing these reveals a pocket sized plain paper notebook with stylish interior page art.
A drawer underneath the discs and notebook contains a well bound facsimile of the shooting script for Sherlock S1E1 A Study in Pink, with reproduction signatures of Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman, Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss. The script is half the size of the genuine article at A5 size. Rounding out the package is a double sided letter from Mrs Hudson, notable as it apparently divulges the first name of our favourite land lady…
The Blu Ray version of the boxset shown here is seemingly no longer available from the BBC Shop, but the DVD edition still is - we suggest hurrying if you still want to try and get your hands on a copy of this extremely well presented premium release of our favourite show.

Limited to a run of only 3,000 individually numbered copies, the limited boxset is a must-have product for those who love the show. The beautiful collector’s edition box is inspired by the hit drama, and features secret compartments that hide Sherlock series 1, 2 and 3. Also concealed within the box is a copy of an episode script from the first series written by showrunner Steven Moffat, a special letter to fans from a popular returning character and a stylish black soft touch A6 size notebook to keep notes and observations on the new series. Fans can also enjoy behind the scenes footage from the upcoming third series.

It is important to note that the home video release of either format has no set date for arrival as yet, as the UK airdate for Sherlock Series Three is still yet to be announced. Despite this, the pre-order links are sound - you can pre-order now and Amazon UK will debit your purchase whenever the series is released.
The cover art used for both formats is also temporary, and is put together from press material from Series Two.
Please note as well the DVD will be encoded in Region 2 [UK, Europe] and while the Blu Ray will likely be region free it will be subject to 1080i 50hz encoding, which renders the disc unplayable on NTSC based players from Panasonic and Sony, including the Playstation 3, in regions including the United States.
