For those of you interested in Sherlock’s use of a Mind Palace in ‘The Hounds of Baskerville’, you may find this Open University interview with Derren Brown enlightening (skip to 1 minute in for details on Memory Palaces.) Derren also discussed this subject in more depth in his book ‘Tricks of the Mind’.

Although many people have credited Derren for inspiring Mark Gatiss to include this in his episode in Sherlock series 2, he in fact confirmed on Twitter, “I first came across it in ‘Hannibal’, but Derren has been a help in so many ways.”

So, last night we thought would be a low key, non-Sherlock related evening for Team Sherlockology. Not that going to see Derren Brown’s Svengali show could ever be considered low key in itself, but a night off from Sherlockology work related pursuits certainly. As ever, how wrong we were.
