Sherlock has won three of the four awards at this year’s Crime Thriller Awards

Sadly Una Stubbs lost out for the Supporting Actress Dagger for Sherlock

The Awards were handed out this evening (October 18th 2012) at a ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. A television broadcast of the event will be shown in the UK on ITV3 at 21:00BST on October 23rd 2012.

Now entering their fifth successful year in partnership with ITV3 and Specsavers, the Crime Thriller Awards (in association with the Crime Writers’ Association) are set for another seven-week season of ITV3 crime and drama programming, culminating in the Specsavers Crime Thriller Awards – a glittering occasion at London’s Grosvenor House – which is televised as the finale of the seven week season.

Sherlock 2013 Calendar back cover revealed

The back cover of the Sherlock 2013 calendar has just been revealed on Twitter. It features the main images of all twelve monthly interior spreads.

You can preorder the calendar, due for release in the UK on October 1 2012, here on Amazon UK. Regional Amazon sites, including Amazon US, France and Germany will also be carrying the calendar.

UPDATE: Danilo Calendars have contacted us to say that despite appearances from this back cover image, the calendar WILL showcase ALL characters from the series - there is imagery accompanying the calendar grid each month that is not shown here.

The Music of Sherlock with Michael Price

It’s always a huge pleasure to listen to those creatively involved with Sherlock talk at length about the series, especially in person. Michael Price is one of the composers of the music for the series, alongside David Arnold, and on Saturday 22 September 2012 he hosted a thorough talk on the subject, demonstrating in detail the construction of important cues of music that appear in Sherlock Series Two, as well as some significant moments you may not have noticed in the episodes…

SHERLOCK Paper Figures

So I’ve been making these paper figures for myself for a while (they’re lining the walls of my studio), and I thought I’d make them available to everyone else. For free. Every Monday. Print the figures out yourself on your own printer, or you can take them to your local print shop (that’s what I do) for the best quality.

I figured I’d start with a set of figures from the BBC show SHERLOCK, given that if it weren’t for that marvelous show I probably wouldn’t be on tumblr in the first place.

I don’t usually do backgrounds for these, but this set comes with a Baker Street diorama, because come on, Baker Street.

Anyway, click here to download the print file. It’s a little shy of 27MB, which isn’t HUGE, but it’s probably better suited to a laptop or a desktop than a phone. Sherlock - Behind the Scenes: Vatican Cameos, Alan Rickman, and the Phantom Camera

It’s one of the most memorable moments in A Scandal in Belgravia. On realising the safe in Irene’s flat is booby trapped, Sherlock yells out a ‘safe word’ that he and John have decided on as an alert to take immediate evasive action: the canon-referencing “Vatican Cameos!” The scene then decends into a slow motion ballet as our heroes disarm the nefarious CIA agents. But how was this stunning imagery captured?
