Sherlock: Scholastic Reader Books

We’ve come across these teaching guides published by Scholastic and based on the BBC Series.

Reading aids (Level 4 Upper-intermediate: B2) rather than actual storybooks, they condense each episode into easy to read chapters as well as containing magazine style fact files and self study activities. Both books are officially licenced by Hartswood Films.

Tonight, the Paul McGuigan episode of musical drama Smash makes it’s UK debut on Sky Atlantic at 22:00BST.

Paul has, of course, directed four episodes of Sherlock so far - A Study in Pink, The Great Game, A Scandal in Belgravia and The Hounds of Baskerville.

An excellent new interview with director Paul McGuigan, who called the shots on four out of the six episodes of Sherlock made thus far - A Study in Pink, The Great Game, A Scandal in Belgravia and The Hounds of Baskerville.

It touches on his experiences in Hollywood, being offered a job by Steven Spielberg, nearly directing a James Bond film, and confirms his return to work on Sherlock Series Three in January 2013.

Among the facts and figures contained in this morning’s BBC iPlayer Performance Pack for January - April 2012 are the much requested final viewing figures for repeat plays of Sherlock Series Two.
