NO BAFTA FOR JEREMY BRETT

VERY sad news indeed that The British Academy of Film and Television Arts will not be honouring Jeremy Brett with a posthumous Award.

Despite BAFTA 4 JB’s valiant fight, creating a petition and generating massive support for the cause with even several leading actors, producers and directors getting behind it, the Board of Trustees decided that their initial decisions on posthumous Awards would not change.

For many people though, Jeremy Brett will ALWAYS be THE Victorian Sherlock Holmes, and with or without a BAFTA Award, his legacy will always live on.

You know what to do: #VoteSherlock4Bafta lornasp:

swedishgirlies:

If the hits to the BAFTA video clips are anything to go by (and they were last year) then Celebrity Juice is beating Sherlock in the BAFTA Audience Award. As Celebrity Juice is unlikely to have non UK interest its more likely that the hits are translating into votes.
A number of Sherlock’s hits are likely to be people outside of the UK who love the show who dont realise initially that they can’t vote until after they watch the video clip that accompanies it.

Fearne Cotton is probably egging on her huge radio 1 audience to vote for it. Leigh Francis (AKA Keith Lemon) winning a BAFTA over Sherlock would be taking the p*ss big time.

SHERLOCK GAINS THREE BAFTA TV NOMINATIONS

The British Academy Film and Television Awards have unveiled the final list of nominations for the 2012 BAFTA Television Awards, due to be presented on Sunday May 27 2012.

Sherlock has gained three nominations in acting categories.

Benedict Cumberbatch – Best Actor

Martin Freeman – Best Supporting Actor

Andrew Scott – Best Supporting Actor

Martin Freeman and Andrew Scott face off in the Best Supporting Actor category. This is Andrew’s first BAFTA Nomination. Due to changes in the rules for the 2012 award, the Best Drama award – which Sherlock won in 2011 – now requires a minimum of five new episodes in a series to be eligible. Sherlock was thus eligible for the Mini-Series category, a suitably packed field, and sadly wasn’t nominated.

You can see the full list of nominations for the 2012 BAFTA Television Awards HERE.

This makes Sherlock’s nomination in the YouTube Audience Award all the more important. This Award is also presented on Sunday May 27 2012, and with Martin and Andrew facing each other in the same category Sherlock can only win a possible three awards from four nominations. If you are in the UK, and haven’t voted for Sherlock across as many computers and mobile devices as you can, head over to the BAFTA YouTube Channel to vote NOW.
