And so ends 2012, a packed year for BBC Sherlock and for Sherlockology itself. It’s the close of our first full year of running the website and all the connected social accounts, and ‘full’ is certainly the right word when looking back on the past twelve months.

Sherlock: Scholastic Reader Books
We’ve come across these teaching guides published by Scholastic and based on the BBC Series.
Reading aids (Level 4 Upper-intermediate: B2) rather than actual storybooks, they condense each episode into easy to read chapters as well as containing magazine style fact files and self study activities. Both books are officially licenced by Hartswood Films.

In celebration of the upcoming release of Sherlock: The Casebook, the ultimate and official guide to the BBC series we’ve created our own casebook book complete with 6 cases for you to solve.
We’ll be releasing a new case for you to crack every day over the next 6 days starting on Sunday 21st October. You will have until Wednesday 31st October to solve all 6 cases in order to then be entered into a draw to win one of 6 copies of Sherlock: The Casebook signed by Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman (on bookplate) kindly provided to us by our friends at BBC Books. Each time you solve a case you’ll also be presented with a new page from the casebook giving you a preview of the books case based pages.

The Awards were handed out this evening  (October 18th 2012) at a ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. A television broadcast of the event will be shown in the UK on ITV3 at 21:00BST on October 23rd 2012.  Now entering their fifth successful year in partnership with ITV3 and Specsavers, the Crime Thriller Awards (in association with the Crime Writers’ Association) are set for another seven-week season of ITV3 crime and drama programming, culminating in the Specsavers Crime Thriller Awards – a glittering occasion at London’s Grosvenor House – which is televised as the finale of the seven week season.
